February 2011 Update

The Ukrainian holidays have finally ended.  Ukraine has many holidays.  Western Christmas is observed on December 25.  New Years, is observed on January 1.  Orthodox Christmas is observed on January 7.  The Old New Year is observed on January 14.  During this time many take vacations from work and regular routines are interrupted.  Because of this churches also break from regular ministries.

On Tuesday, January 18 our church restarted its English language outreach classes.  This semester we  have enough volunteers to teach three levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced.  About twenty showed up for the first lesson.  Pray for these students not only to learn English but also to hear the good news and follow Jesus Christ.  In February, Michael Gott ministries is coming to Kiev to host a week long English outreach camp.  Some of our students plan to attend that.  So, pray for these ministries to also be effective.

Also, our family has resumed hosting Thursday night Bible studies in our home.  We are currently showing a video series on knowing and exercising spiritual gifts.  Pray for the young people in the Bortnichi church to grow in their faith, relationships, and ministries in the local church.  Pray for some to be called into full time ministries.

Three months have passed since David's surgery to correct his heart arrhythmia.  David has returned to the States for follow-up and doctor's appointment.  The doctors are monitoring David for a period of time without him taking the medicine.  While being monitored David will travel and speak in a few churches.  This past weekend David presented his ministry in his parents church, Valley Nazarene, in Monte Vista, Colorado.  This next weekend he will speak in Walsh Baptist Church.  Pray for safe travel and a fruitful ministry as David seeks to mobilize believers toward missions.
