New Years is observed around the world in a variety of ways. Some celebrate with fireworks. Some drop unusual objects from heights. Some celebrate by eating certain foods such as black eyed peas or pork for good luck. Others believe that how you celebrate the New Year determines how the remainder of the year will go. They purchase much food and drink and make merry so that the remainder of the year will be characterized with happiness. If any of these are superstitions are true then I suppose for us 2012 will be a year of travel and eating in restaurants. For, that was what we were doing on New Year's Eve.
We had a great time with family, friends, and supporters over Christmas break. We spent the time with Kim's mother, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends in Pennsylvania. I suppose this was the home ministry's "last blast." For, tomorrow, January 6, we leave for another term of overseas ministry. Please pray for a safe journey and smooth transition to life and ministry back in Ukraine. We are going to hit the ground running. We arrive on Saturday, reconnect with our Living Vine family on Sunday, and start school on Monday. The next 45 days are going to be a challenge. Our visas are of the new "D-type." This means we have 45 days to submit all the necessary paperwork for temporary residence. We ask your prayers that the Lord would guide us through the document process. Over the next couple of months David will be setting a church vision and developing new ministry teams. So, we ask your prayers for that too.
What will await us in 2012? Only the Lord knows what the future hold. But, we know that in 2012 God will work out all things according to His perfect plan for our lives. Thanks for joining us on this spiritual journey through your prayers and financial support! Happy New Year!
