December 2017 update

Dear Praying Partners:

Visiting friends in Connecticut
As society chases the latest trends of "black Friday" and "cyber Monday" and the church seeks to adapt by declaring a "giving Tuesday," those who serve as career missionaries begin to wonder about the sustainability of missions in a culture focused on instant gratification and constantly shifting values.  In the midst of these observations, though, we want to thank you for faithfully standing behind us these 18 years of service.  We also appreciate those who have ministered to us during home ministry.  Because of your faithfulness we have been able to reconnect with many of our family members, friends and supporting churches, all the way from the Rocky Mountains to the east coast.  These six months have included driving more than 18,000 miles, visiting a different church almost every weekend, helping with a Vacation Bible School, serving in a summer camp, speaking on missions in two Christian schools, sharing in a retirement community, attending a family reunion and wedding, visiting a number of pastors and participating in several home Life Group meetings.  Despite the constantly changing schedules, traveling, and living out of suitcases, the Lord has blessed with several opportunities to disciple individuals along the way.  David was able to disciple a local landscaper a bit as things were being finished at our current residence.  He also taught the disciple making process to a young Ukrainian pastor via the internet.  Though our time in the States is almost over, please continue to pray for more opportunities to make disciples here in the coming weeks.  We look forward to soon returning to Ukraine and resuming our disciple making ministries from that part of the world.  Thanks again for your prayers and participation!

Blessings,
David and Kim Spirek
