A second reason to pray for missionaries is that the nature of their job description engages them in spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:12). Missionaries enter territory where minds and hearts have been blinded and twisted for generations. Satan does not want to so easily give up his prey. Satan finds all kinds of undreamed-of ways to counter attack against the growth of the kingdom of God. Some ways that Satan can attack is through trials, tribulations, doubts, fears, discouragement, health, finances, distractions, disunity and misunderstandings. Satan can work through many realms such as the physical, the emotional and the spiritual. Satan knows how to "push buttons" of others to cause problems. Can you imagine the military going into war without a support team to help them succeed in their mission. Many send spiritual soldiers into spiritual battle just like that - without spiritual support through prayer. Be more effective senders. Pray for your missionary who is on the front lines of the kingdom spiritual battle!
