Above the door of the church that I recently visited was a sign that read "You are now entering the mission field!" You may have seen these signs before. They are good reminders that the church is about much more than what takes place inside the walls of a church building. God has called followers to go and preach the gospel and to make disciples of all nations around the world. But, as I interacted with church folks that day giving my presentation on missions in Ukraine, preaching a sermon, and engaging in fellowship around the lunch table, I began to think that sign should have been hung over both sides of that door. The inside of the the church building seemed to be as much of a mission field as outside the church building. God gave me opportunities to minister to people with all kinds of needs. Some needed to hear a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some needed forgiveness and to bury past sins. Others needed words of encouragement that God will complete the good work that He started in them. Others needed words of exhortation to persevere and press on toward the upward calling in Christ Jesus. I originally went to this church to give an update on the missions ministry in Ukraine. But, I came away having given a piece of my life through serving these people. The mission field is all around us if we will just keep our eyes open. Many thanks to all who have made this summer ministry trip possible through prayer and financial partnership! Please know that God has been impacting many lives this summer during this Stateside ministry!
