Last week I wrote about how God was developing the contacts for my humanitarian aid project for internal refugees in Ukraine. Through a series of circumstances the Lord connected me to the pastor of God's Design Church plant for refugees in Kiev. There I started learning about the challenges that these people face leaving behind everything and having to restart their lives. Most cannot afford rent and food at the same time. They need more than "handouts." They need to improve prospects for affordable housing, employment, and partnering together to help one another through the financial crisis. One way refugees have been trying to cope is to find more affordable housing outside of the city and commute into Kiev. I ask your prayers that they find creative ways to improve their situations in addition to humanitarian aid handouts. While I believe part of this ministry should go towards helping refugees in Kiev region I also feel led to help refugees who have resettled in the eastern part of the country. I am trying to plan a trip out to the east to see for myself the needs and to build connections with Christians already working with refugees there. Therefore, I ask your prayers for God to open doors that I may go on such a vision trip to eastern Ukraine. I ask your prayers for God to provide the right connections with the right people with whom I can partner out there. This entire refugee humanitarian aid project has been a "God thing." God placed the burden on my heart. God gave me some connections with people in the States who wanted to participate. God gave me some connections with Christians in Kiev region already working with refugees. Some churches have indicated a desire to participate. So, I ask your prayers for God to help me complete that which He started. May God receive glory for all that He is doing through His project! Thanks for your prayers to this end!
